Dear Friends,

WVFL President Wanda Franz, Ph.D.

WVFL President
Wanda Franz, Ph.D.

We are finally in the last weeks of this very important election year. Because of the Supreme Court decisions of 1973, women have a fundamental Constitutional right to abortion. The Supreme

Court “found” this right in the Constitution and they can reverse that decision. However, one of our best supporters on the Supreme Court has died – Judge Antonin Scalia.

In 1992, Judge Scalia wrote: “The issue is whether [abortion] is a liberty protected by the Constitution of the United States. I am sure it is not. I reach that conclusion…because of two simple facts: (1) the constitution says absolutely nothing about it, and (2) the long-standing traditions of American society have permitted it to be legally proscribed.”

The loss of Justice Scalia makes the Presidential election especially important because it is the next President who will appoint his successor. You have a clear choice in this year’s election. Here find a comparison piece on the Presidential candidates.

In addition, there are many very important races here in West Virginia. It is important that we maintain our pro-life leadership in the state. You may go to our wvforlife.org to find the voting records of our state leadership. The September issue of LIFE MATTERS also has candidate survey results listed on pages 4 and 5. The full statewide slate of endorsements will be posted on the site this week. Keep checking the Political page at wvforlife.org.

If you are not registered to vote, you can still do so through Tuesday, October 18. You can register to vote online here.

Thank you for your continuing support of West Virginians for Life as we work to do pro-life education in the state of West Virginia.

Sincerely, for life,

Wanda Franz, President

P.S. Don’t forget to vote on Tuesday, November 8, or you can vote early from October 26 to November 5. Not sure where you can early vote. Check here.
